Austin, Texas (July 2, 2009) – Mark Homer of the Texas House of Representatives introduced HCR 7 to congratulate and honor Matthew Draeger of Paris, Texas for winning the individual community problem solving championship, junior division, at the 2009 Future Problem Solving Program International Conference and Competition.
Matthew is the first TX FPSP student to win an international title for Project HEAL (Helping Everybody Accept Life); a program designed to help children to deal with the loss of a loved one and live a more peaceful life. Matthew gained community backing for his project, started a support group for children and even wrote a book, A Boy Named Sam, based on his own experiences losing his grandfather.
